Rooting Tutorial 1

you will need:

Ë    rooting needles ( i use german fork needles 42g for thicker hair and 43g for sparse hair)

Ë    needle holder

Ë    mohair

Ë    lead or water colour pencil (if you go for water colour pencil match it as best you can to the hair colour you are using)

Ë    tweezers (helpful to pull out hairs if your need picks up more than 2 or 3 hairs)

Ë    tape measure (optional)

 

step 1: marking out the hair line
find the center of the top of the head using the ears and nose as a guide. from the center measure forward roughly and inch this will be your hair line you can bring it forward or back depending on the look you are wanting

 

step 2:

make a mark roughly 1/4 inch above the ear


step 3:

attach your marks to give you an idea of the hair line




step 4:

root around the head leaving a circle for the crown

step 5:

draw a hook and root the hair following the line ( you can have your hook going clockwise or counter clockwise )

step 6:

fill in the hook area you can make this large or small its up to you how big you want your swirl

 

step 7:

blend in the hair slightly adjusting the angle of the hair from the hook out to the outer edge of the circle

 

and it should end up looking similar to this
